Sold - Take your point, but they can't ask silly money as he only has a year left and no club would pay it. Then he goes for free next summer.

What i was getting at is that his performances since joining us his asking rate has probably doubled... even if all the stars line up... Jess is happy to stay... Man U are happy to sign him.. I cannot see our board whacking out HUGE bucks for him...

I agree with others that its down to Lingard. If he wants to stay, a deal will be done. Mancs will try to get as much as possible but risk losing him for bugger all in a year.

Shame Lingard is not on Salthouse, Mackay Jnr or Silkman's books otherwise it would be almost guaranteed he comes to us. Never underestimate Sullivan's "need" to feel he is in control either and his uncanny ability to fvck up a negotiation with his "Tinpot Napolean" moves.

How would admitting they were bent over give them mileage?

The board wouldn't miss a PR trick like that.

If we were rebuffed with an option to buy, they would have got mileage out of that long before now.

Who said we didn't ask?

I suspect that the lack of an option to buy was Sullivan throwing a tantrum because he had another player lined up via one of his pals.

..the madness is that we didn't ask for an option to buy.

Can see Mourinho wanting Lingard at Spurs.

He was a big part of Mourinho’s Man Utd side. Even scored the winner in the FA Cup final for them.

Who's place would he take back at OT?

If whoever it is has the manager's ear he'll only ever be a bit-part player (again).

Depends where we finish and how much he values first team football.

I'll go against the tide and say I think we can get Lingard.

These things have a habit of working themselves out. What will be crucial will be Lingard wanting to stay. If he does I can see it happening.

Re: ⚽ Wolves v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 2-3
I thought he'd burnt his bridges there a tad.

Reading the BBC comments on him a few have said they wouldn't want him back, no idea why.

Has a year left on his contract, and seems very happy with us.

He's loving his football and I think loves the fact he's one of the main men.

Neville said last night if he wants to play regularly Man U isn't for him.

Re: ⚽ Wolves v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 2-3
I can see the arrogant mancs offering him as a make-weight in a Rice deal - that's about the only way we'd get a chance to sign him.

Sold0 - can’t really see any other outcome than him returning to the Mancs. We’re having the season of our lives, but I’m not convinced we’ll be able to maintain this. Taking my West Ham specs off, going back would be the safe and sensible option.

If things don’t work out for him, we could go back in for him. But he’ll have a lot more options next time around.

Re: ⚽ Wolves v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 2-3
Same. I think any club in England that doesn't have 'Manchester' in their name will be interested, as well as several across the continent. The price will now be very high as well.

Unless we confidentially DO have an agreement to buy at a certain price/performance clause (unlikely given it seemed to be made clear that wasn't part of the loan deal) then he will have his pick of clubs. Unless he's absolutely loved it here and is desperate to stay, then sadly I can't see it happening.

If we manage to qualify for Europe, we probably have a slender chance of it happening. No chance if not, though.

Speaking to a MATE last night both in agreement the problem with Lingard playing out of his skin is that the remote chance that we might have been able to nab him at the end of the season... I reckon is nil now...

We lose Rice....Oh No..!! Then Antonio who was a monster for 35 minutes....Souchek is given a bad tackle and limps for a while. Some bastard tries to cripple...Jesse...no wonder he was furious...and we hang on and get 3 points...This team has fire, grit and Spirit...plus determination. Jesse is an inspiration...Cresswell has often been maligned..but some of his crosses last few games have been superb....

This team has done so well....and we have been waiting so many years for a team of this quality..and above all fight and determination...

We coped OK without our best player, (and with losing another key player early) against a side who are still decent, despite their results not being stellar this season.

While it was a bit smash and grab (I feel our three goals were a bit against the run of play, and were I a Wolves fan I'd be wondering how the fuck we were 3-0 down after 35 minutes) we did really well and showed resolve to hold on for the win, especially after all the parallels to the Arsenal game. It did help that the ref in this occasion wasn't seemingly desperate for the opposition to come back and win.

I criticised the team selection but he got it right. It's clear the squad needs more balance though, and more cover in certain areas.
